Contentious Private Client Lawyer

An opportunity has arisen in an expanding tier one Private Wealth department in the firms Cayman Islands office. Our client seeks applications from recognised commonwealth-qualified lawyers with 3–5 years’ PQE and strong experience in private client matters, including trust and estate litigation.

This is a top-ranking Private Wealth department that could really propel your offshore private wealth career. You will work closely with the globally leading Partners of the team and be encouraged to carve your own career with the same standards of excellence.

As a Contentious Private Client Lawyer, you will advise a broad range of clients including professional trustees, executors, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals on a wide variety of contentious trust and estate matters including local and international matters.

Role Responsibilities:

  • At this 3–5 year PQE you will provide that essential support to senior lawyers and partners with significant trust and estate litigation matters. Truly an opportunity to work with some of the most prestigious individuals in the offshore private wealth sphere.
  • You will be exposed to a broad variety of private wealth and trust matters including wealth structuring and estate planning, the creation and management of long-term trust arrangements, trust restructuring and dissolution, and probate-related issues.
  • This team regularly appear before the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands in both contentious trust disputes and multi-party non-contentious applications, as well as in cross-border estate litigation and related private client disputes.
  • Responsibilities will include drafting court documentation, liaising with clients, counsel, and the court as required. You will also be encouraged to contribute to business development initiatives and attend networking events and conferences.

Experience:

  • Commonwealth-qualified lawyer with 3–5 years PQE with a wealth of experience in contentious private client work, particularly trust and estate litigation.
  • Strong advocacy skills are essential for this opportunity.
  • Ideally you will have had exposure to high-net-worth clients, private family offices and investment managers with some multi-jurisdictional offshore exposure.
  • Confidence in managing client relationships and supporting strategic case work.
